Just wondering which country you are from.
I'm from england first of all, however, I really feel that that is besides the point.
I think that the majority of the time regardless of your global location, breast enlargement is and will never be "common".
Ofcourse there are the exceptions for example, the percentage of females in the media who have undergone breast surgery will be substantially higher than that of the actual percentage of women with surgery. As a result of this you are also likely to find that there is a higher percentage of women with them living in L.A. for example.
Obviously, however there has be a steep increase in women who have had surgery or at least admitted to it. But I think that ultimately it all depends on what you consider common, personally i feel that common is anything above 10% (or maybe 5%) of the population - whether that be nationally or globally, which breast enlargement surgery is probably no where near.

Also is there any side effects after the surgery ?
I think its pretty common in most MEDCs. In the UK theres a lot of girls having it done. Side effects are probably tenderness, and if it goes wrong you can get one nipple higher than the other, or a wierd lump where the silicone was placed.

Is it common in your country ?
No, it's not very common in Egypt but my aunt is American and she had hers done at 31 after giving birth to her daughter. She was totally flat. She got large B/small C in silicone and you can't really tell. I am DDs so I don't really want to get them done any bigger though I am considering a reduction (unless I can get a job for having big breasts).
