Is there any life threatening risks on having a breast reduction surgery?

my sister is going to have a breast reduction surgery and she is scared that something bad will happen to her like dying.
so i was wondering if it is possible to die after or during the surgery?
and what can i do to make her less worried?

Any time anesthesia is administered there is the possibility of death. The doctor and the hospital is required (in the US) to have your sis sign what is called Informed Consent. By law, they have to list all of the things that could go wrong, and one of these items is death. The odds are that your sis will be OK but no one can guarantee that. I personally know 3 people who have had breast reduction surgeries and all 3 were delighted with the results. Post surgery she can expect to look like Frankenstein's bride but with time the scars will fade. The back and neck pain will go away, clothing that fits will be found in stores, and she'll look 25 pounds lighter. If I had large breasts that created problems I'd have the surgery.

There are risks with EVERY surgery.

She should be comforted to know that while in surgery there is one person that is there to specifically monitor her vital stats (heart, breathing, etc).

    Congrats to her!

I am a medical doctor and one of the best in my field. Before she has this surgery done you should have her talk to me online or email me and we can talk about if she wants. There always risk with any surgery, but this a very low risk surgery given you have a good doctor. If she wants me email is dr.nicole_white@yahoo.com
